Salah: Prayer Times & Qibla — iOS

Privacy Policy (iOS)

Effective date: September 6, 2026

The short version: the iOS app makes no network requests of its own. It has no account, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting. Your location, prayer log, Tasbih counts and settings are stored on your device and are never transmitted to us. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive, store or retain any personal data about you, and we never sell personal data.

Retention and deletion in one line: because nothing leaves your device, we hold nothing to retain or delete. You can erase everything the app has stored at Settings → Subscription → “Erase On-Device Data”, or by deleting the app. Full detail in Section 6 and Section 7.

This page covers the iOS app only — “Salah: Prayer Times & Qibla” on the Apple App Store. The Android app is a separate codebase that does use third-party services, and it is covered by the Android privacy policy.

1. Who we are

TechnologiesRehman, Ontario, Canada, publishes Salah: Prayer Times & Qibla. Contact us at technologiesrehman@gmail.com. We operate no server, no user-account system and no analytics database for this app.

2. Data we collect and where it goes

The app requires no account, no sign-up and no personal data entry. There is no field anywhere in the app for a name, an email address or any other contact detail.

InformationWhy the app uses itWhere it goes
Approximate or precise location, from the device’s GPS Calculating local prayer times and the direction of the Qibla Your device only. It is not transmitted to us, to Apple, or to any third party, and it is not stored outside the app.
Compass heading and any manual compass correction you set Pointing the Qibla needle Your device only.
Prayer log, Tasbih counts, streaks and app settings Showing your progress and remembering your preferences Your device only, in the app’s local storage.
Subscription status Unlocking and restoring Premium features Provided to the app by Apple. The app receives only whether a subscription is currently active. See Section 3.

The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK and no third-party SDK of any kind that transmits data. We show no ads, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we never sell personal data.

3. Payments

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple. Apple processes the entire purchase. Your payment details are entered into Apple’s systems and are never seen by, sent to, or stored by us. The app asks Apple whether a subscription is active and receives only that answer.

Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. Apple provides us with aggregated sales and financial reports, which do not identify individual customers.

4. Our service providers

For the iOS app there are none. No data processor acts on our behalf, because no data reaches us. Apple is the only third party involved, acting as the seller of the subscription under its own privacy policy.

5. Notifications

Prayer reminders and the adhan are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. No notification is sent from a server, and no push token is collected or transmitted.

6. Data retention

We do not receive or retain any personal data from the iOS app. There is no server-side copy of anything, so there is no retention period for us to state. The table below covers data held on your own device.

DataWhere it is heldHow long it is kept
Location and compass heading Your device, in memory while in use Not stored. It is used to calculate a result and discarded.
Prayer log, Tasbih counts, streaks, settings Your device Until you erase them in the app or delete the app. We never receive them.
Subscription status Apple Held by Apple under Apple’s policy. Apple retains transaction records for its own legal and tax obligations; we cannot delete Apple’s records and we hold no copy identifying you.
Device backups Your iCloud or computer backup, if you have backups enabled Controlled entirely by you in iOS Settings, under Apple’s policy. We have no access to your backups.

7. Data deletion

Because nothing leaves your device, deleting your data is something you can complete yourself, immediately, without contacting us.

Option A — erase your data inside the app

  1. Open Salah.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Subscription.
  4. Under Your data, tap Erase On-Device Data.
  5. Confirm Erase Everything.

This immediately and permanently removes your settings, prayer log and Tasbih history from the device. It takes effect at once; there is no waiting period, because there is nothing to request from a server. It does not cancel your subscription — see below.

Option B — delete the app

Deleting Salah from your device removes all of its local data with it.

Option C — contact us

Email technologiesrehman@gmail.com with the subject line “Data deletion request — iOS”. We will respond within 30 days. In practice we will confirm that we hold no data about you, because the iOS app sends us none.

What deletion does not cover

Erasing your data does not cancel your subscription, and cancelling your subscription does not erase your data. Subscriptions are managed by Apple at Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in the app at Settings → Subscription → Manage or Cancel Subscription. We cannot cancel or refund a subscription on your behalf, and we cannot delete Apple’s transaction records.

8. Your rights

Privacy laws including Canada’s PIPEDA, the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to complain to a regulator. These rights apply to personal data a company holds about you. We hold none from the iOS app, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase. The data described in Section 2 is already in your sole possession on your own device. For data Apple holds about your purchase, contact Apple.

9. Children

Salah is rated for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

10. Security

Your data is stored by iOS in the app’s private container, which other apps cannot read. Because the app transmits nothing, there is no network transfer of your data to intercept and no server of ours that could be breached. Device-level security — your passcode, Face ID and backup encryption — is what protects the on-device copy, so we recommend keeping those enabled.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it in the app’s release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
